IPL treatment

say "hello" to the new you.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a technology used for various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes, including acne, rosacea, age spots, and sunspots. IPL uses light to heat and to destroy the problem, and using interchangeable filters allows it to be effective for several skin conditions.

IPL can penetrate through various skin layers to help kill acne-causing bacteria. Sunspots and aging spots get darker over time before lightening, causing most patients to require 4-6 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. (Depending on skin type and the skin condition, the patient may need more treatments.)

Skin resurfacing with the Icon can improve the appearance of multiple skin flaws and blemishes:

  • Age spots
  • Skin tone and texture
  • Sun damage
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scars

Icon IPL achieves excellent skin resurfacing results. It uses intense pulsed light to create areas of affected tissue that extend through the epidermis into the dermis. The body’s natural healing process creates new, healthy tissue to replace the areas of affected tissue, resulting in healthier, younger-looking skin.

Photo Rejuvenation

Dramatic rejuvenation of the skin is now possible using the Icon IPL system. The system uses Optimized Light™ photorejuvenation technology, which delivers gentle pulses of intense, optimized light to regions of unwanted pigmentation and facial vessels. The appearance of sunspots, age spots, spider veins, rosacea, and capillaries can be reduced.

Treatment time can be as short as 30 minutes, depending on the area treated. Excellent results can be achieved within one or two treatments, but for best results several treatments may be required.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Here are some commonly asked questions about Intense Puled Light Treatment (IPL).

IPL Photofacials, better known as Pulsed Light Therapy, uses a handheld device that emits pulses of broad-spectrum light into the skin during treatments. This type of therapy treats the deepest layer of the skin, making it the perfect way to heal sun damage, broken capillaries, and other skin impurities.

Photofacials can treat a variety of skin blemishes and pigmentation issues. It can also treat:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Freckles
  • Broken vessels
  • Rosacea
  • Sunspots

A cold gel will be applied to your face as well as a pair of dark glasses over your eyes to protect them during treatment. Once this is done, our knowledgeable staff will begin treating your skin with a handpiece that features a cold, smooth surface. They will move this around the skin while it admits the pulsing light into the skin.

Photofacials are usually done in a series. Each treatment will last 20 minutes to 1 hour. The total time depends on your skin. Most patients have between 3 to 6 treatments over 6-8 months.

Most patients believe IPL is confined to the face, but there are several different treatment areas.

Other popular treatment areas include:

  • Neck
  • Shoulders
  • Hands

After your treatment, you can expect to have smoother skin. You will also notice a more even tone and texture.

Many factors will affect Photofacial results. Sun exposure, genetics, and age are among some of the factors that will affect how long your treatment results last. Most patients report seeing the benefits of Photofacials for 6 to 12 months after their treatment.
